| HOSTEL (BOYS & GIRLS ACCOMMODATION) |
The Hostels for both Boys and Girls of the Institute are available in two separate campuses. The Boys Hostel is located in campus on Saradha College Road which consists of two blocks, namely Bernard Thomas Block and Vedanayagam Block. Nearly 260 students are accommodated in both the Blocks. The rooms are furnished with cotts. The Girls Hostel is situated in the institute in the Institute Campus itself housing at about 50 girls. |
MANAGEMENT OF THE HOSTEL
- The General Management of the Hostel shall be vested with the principal who shall be the warden of both the hostels. He will be assisted by Deputy Warden, Assistant Warden, Residential Tutors and Office Assistants.
- Deputy Warden is in charge of student’s discipline and day to-day administration of hostel, he also takes care of the sick students and also approves the leave of the students.
- Residential Tutor, help the student in their studies during study hours. Assistant wardens look after mess and take care of student’s discipline at mess times and maintain the hostel attendance.
ADMISSION TO THE HOSTEL
- Application for admission to the hostels shall be made in the prescribed form. An applicant will be admitted to the hostel with the approval of the Principal & warden.
- Every student before he is admitted to the hostel must give an undertaking in writing that he will submit to any discipline imposed on him by the authorities.
- This shall be confined in writing by the Parent / guardian also in the attached declaration form.
- All the students should pay the prescribed fees at a he time of admission.
MESS AND MESS RULES
The hostel provides only vegetarian meals, and on occasion, non-vegetarian meals will also be provided. No student will be permitted to bring any non-vegetarian stuff into the mess.
Meals will be served in the following hours.
Breakfast - 07-15 am to 08-15 am
Lunch - 12-20 pm to 01-05 pm
Dinner - 07-30 pm to 08-15 pm
No inmate is permitted to carry any food stuff in utensils to their rooms. Inmates should not enter the kitchen and store rooms except the appointed mess representatives. They shall not give any tips to servants and cooks of the hostel.
PAYMENT OF MESS CHARGES
- The mess charges per month shall be based on dividing system. The mess month shall be reckoned from 1st of a month to 31st of the month. It should be paid by 15th of each month. The mess charges will be collected with a fine of Rs 5/- per day up to 20th of the month. After 20th students those who have not paid the mess fee for the month will be expelled from the hostel. They will be admitted into the hostel only after payment of the mess fee along with fine and re-admission fee of Rs.100/-
- No separate notice will be served to this effect.
- The Hostel Administration puts up the mess fees in the first week of the month in the Hostel Notice Board. The inmates should make their own arrangements to inform their parents / guardians about the mess fees, and pay the mess fees in time.
MESS REDUCTION RULES
- Only those who will be out of Hostel in long absence are eligible to apply for reduction. Reduction will be given only from the fourth day of the absence provided the inmate submits his leave and reduction form in the hostel office prior to his absence. In addition to his, appropriate entries should be made in reduction register available in the mess.
- No inmate who has applied for reduction will be permitted to stay in the Hostel during the period.
- It is the responsibility of the inmates to keep their money and things safe. They have to lock their rooms during class hours. The hostel management does not bear responsibility for the loss of their money or valuables. Personal problems and problems with other inmates & Hostel servants should only be represented to the Deputy Warden.
- Those who indulge in serious offences, mentioned above will be severely punished, which may range from fine to dismissal from the Hostel and Institution. Hence all the inmates are expected to behave in such a way to fetch good name to the Hostel and Institution.
- A student once expelled from the hostel shall not be eligible to seek readmission into the Hostel. No inmate is allowed to entertain any expelled student in the Hostel.
HOSTEL PROPERTY
Inmates are personally responsible for the electrical fittings in their rooms and the maintenance and return of the furniture assigned to them in proper condition. Any damage caused to the Buildings and its affixes in bathrooms, toilets, wash basins, furniture etc., will be recovered at double cost either from the individuals if identified or collectively form the inmates of the hostel.
HOSTEL SERVANTS
The students shall not demand any special service form Hostel servants. They shall not rebuke or abuse any servant of the hostel but shall report to the Deputy Warden any case of misconduct or breach of duty on the part of the servants. The inmates should not pay tips to the hostel servants.
ACCOMODATION FOR GUESTS
No guest shall be permitted to stay in the hostel. However guests with valid reasons, for staying should get prior permission from the Deputy Warden. No guest can stay for more than one day. No female guests are permitted under any circumstances.
ADDITIONAL FACILITIES IN THE HOSTEL
The Hostel has a reading room, Audio & T.V. Rooms, Stores. The Hostel Chapel is kept opened from 6-00- p.m. to 8-30 p.m. Fellowship prayers are conducted regularly on all days from 8-00 p.m. to 8-30 p.m.
MISCELLANEOUS
- The Deputy Warden reserves the right to put more students in a room than it is intended for it.
- Notices concerning the members of the hostel shall be displayed on the hostel Notice Board. This shall be considered as sufficient notice to the students.
- Notices of any kind other than those issued by the warden shall require the prior approval of the Deputy Warden before they are circulated in the hostel or put on the Notice Board.
- Any question not covered by the rules by the rules laid down here shall be decided by the Deputy / Asst. Warden and duly reported to the Principal.
RULES FOR GIRLS HOSTEL INMATES
- Day Scholars should not be entertained in the hostel.
- Inmates of the girl’s hostel will be given 2 guest cards. Guests are permitted only on Sunday form 8-00 a.m. to 5-00 p.m. with guest cards. Guests are not permitted to enter the rooms, they should wait only in the visitor’s hall.
- Inmates should go out only with their parents or Ass. Warden. Whenever they go out or come in they must enter the details in Gate register with time.
- Girl’s letter correspondence should go only through the Ass Warden.
- Girls are not allowed to go out of the hostel after 6-00 p.m.
